Kitesurf & Windsurf
The Maremma coast, buffeted by sustained winds for much of the year, offers ideal conditions for water sports such as kitesurfing and windsurfing. Among the most popular locations for these activities is Punta Ala, a narrow strip of land that juts out into the sea in front of Castiglione della Pescaia: here the steady winds and shallow waters are perfect for learning and perfecting one's skills with a kite or sailboard.
Other areas popular with kitesurfers and windsurfers are the Ponente beach and the Gulf of Follonica, where it is possible to ride the waves even with the Ostro wind blowing from the south. In the stretch of sea between Punta Ala and Castiglione, winds create perfect waves for jumps and breathtaking performances.
The Argentario Promontory, exposed to winds in all directions, is also a popular destination for fans of these sports, with its open sea and often challenging waves; schools for beginners and equipment rentals are mainly concentrated between Marina di Grosseto and Porto Ercole.
